Reading Notes, Brer Rabbit: The Wonderful Tar-Baby Story
The Wonderful Tar-Baby Story
On a warm, sunny day, Brer Rabbit saw Beer Fox go to work to get some tar. Beer Fix mixed the tar with some turpentine and made it a contraption called "Tar-Baby." Brer Fox took his Tar-Baby and sat her in the bushes by the side of the road.
Brer Rabbit came dancing down the road. He called it the "fox trot" as he slide and turned down the road. Brer Rabbit was sassy and whimsical. Brer Fox knew he couldn't keep up with Brer Rabbit's dance moves.
Brer Rabbit come down closer to Tar-Baby and noticed something strange behind her legs.
Brer Fox, he lay low. While Tar-Baby sat there peacefully.
"Good morning!" Brer Rabbit said. "What a BEUATIFUL day it is Tar-Baby!"
Tar-Baby did not say a word, and Brer Fox lays low.
Brer Fox laughs and says "Tar-Baby got nothin' on you."
"I am going to fix her Brer Fox, this is ridiculous," replies Brer Rabbit.
Tar-Baby and Brer Fox still lay low, they still lay low.
Brer Rabbit is yappin' Tar-Baby and Brer Fox's ears off. "I just want her to talk, I just want her to talk. Ain't nothing wrong with that," says Brer Rabbit.
Tar-Baby and Brer Fox lay low.
Brer Rabbit just wants to know Tar-Baby, but Tar-Baby keeps laying low, she keeps laying low.
"Come on Brer Fox! This is ridiculous. You owe me this! I deserve to know Tar-Baby," screamed Brer Rabbit.
Tar-Baby and Brer fox keep laying low, they keeping laying low.
"We'll consider, Tar-Baby likes to lay low, just lay low," replied Brer Fox.
