Reading Notes Part B: The Life of a Buddha

  • Adelphie was broken. She had been traveling all day and night to find Diamantro. She loves him. She had no idea where he has been or where he has disappeared to. Adelphie longs for him, she has had a baby with him and this is her husband.

Adelphie asked all the farmers, bakers, and other villagers in their city if anyone has seen Diamantro. Adelphie has spent days on days crying. No sign of Diamantro.

A week has gone by, the sun was about to go down, and walking through the garden was Diamantro. Adelphie was outside feeding the goats and horses when she saw him. She started sprinting towards him but there was a power that did not let her come too close.

Adelphie could not explain the feeling. She was so confused and angry that she could not hug her husband. It felt as if there was a shield blocking her from Diamantro.

Diamantro looked calm and peaceful. He brought his arms up as a sign of peace. Adelphie was in tears, she did not undersand why she could not be too close to him. She had been missing and longing for him all week.

Out of the blue, the king came. He explained that he was the only one who could grant the wall away. Adelphie started to beg. She dropped to her knees with tears in her eyes, praying that the king would grant her back to her husband.

The king said, “you must agree that you will cook me every meal for the rest of my life in order to get your husband back.” Adelphie’s eyes were filled with fear, but she agreed. She had to get Diamantro back.

The king granted the wish, and snatched Adelphie away. She began to scream. Diamantro ran for her but could not catch her.
